When a student goes to away to school for the first time, there is always the question “What do I need to bring?” Each student housing facility has a different set up. Off campus housing may be different than and on campus dorm. Here’s a list of suggestions of needed and suggested items each student needs to bring to Dixie Cove apartments.

  • Twin size sheets and bedding
  • Twin size mattress cover (this is mandatory)
  • Towels and bath linens
  • Shower curtain (if you are sharing with a roommate you will  only need one)
  • Hangers
  • Cleaning supplies for your bathroom and bedroom
  • Basic cooking and eating utensils (pans, plates, cups, silverware, storage containers)
  • Dish towels, dish cloths
  • Dish soap
  • Laundry soap and supplies
  • Garbage bags, paper towels, foil etc
  • Broom and dust pan
  • Computer or laptop (internet provided)
  • Chair to go at the desks
  • Iron (ironing board is available)

Here’s what will be provided at Dixie Cove Apartments off campus housing so you need not bring this

  • Microwave (one in each student room and also in kitchen areas)
  • Small refrigerators are located in each student room and full size fridges in kitchen (label food in kitchen fridges as unlabeled food will be discarded each week when cleaned, we also ask that you keep strong smelling items in your own fridge in your room, these items will also be discarded from communal fridges)
  • Desks are provided in each student room. There is lighting above each desk.
  • Dresser (there are built in drawers in each room along with hang space)
  • Mops and cleaning buckets will be available
  • Vacuums
  • Dining table and bar stools at bar are provided
  • Dishwashers
  • Hot pads
  • Laundry facility on site

Things NOT to bring

  • Candles ( no open flames allowed)
  • Fireworks, weapons, or firearms (strictly prohibited anywhere on the property)
  • Pets of any kind are NOT ALLOWED
  • BBQ grills (prohibited in the building, there is a nice gas grill available for student use in the pool area)
